SABIC® PS 125
General purpose polystyrene for Injection moulding
Description.
General purpose polystyrene SABIC® PS 125 is manufactured by continuous mass polymerization of styrene
monomer. It is a crystal-like, hard and brittle polymer; medium flow with excellent clarity and higher Vicat and Heat
Distortion temperatures allow its use in many different applications.
Applications.
It is recommended for the manufacture of a variety of packaging items, namely jewelry and gift boxes; medical
supplies such as petri dishes, test tubes and specimen jars, etc. Another important use is in caping the high
impact polystyrene coextruded sheet for high surface gloss. It could be blended with impact modifier resin for clear
packaging articles.
Processing conditions.
Typical temperature profile for injection moulding grade SABIC® PS 125:
Throat: ambient, Feed: 170 °C, Transition: 195 °C, Metering: 220 °C, Nozzle: 215 °C
Food Contact Status.
EPS SABIC® PS 125 complies with the U. S. FDA regulations 21CFR 177.1640 and 21CFR 174-189.
Recommendations of V + VI outlined in BGVV, the European directive EC 90/128 and other comparable
recommendations/codes/practices/legislation in the European Countries, when used according to good
manufacturing practice and without further modification to fabricate articles which comes in contact with food.
