In year ********0, a cup of coffee from Java is
so well-known in the West that it is often called the ‘cup of
Java’. According to the history record in ***6, the first coffee
plant in Indonesian archipelago wasplanted at Batavia (now known as
Jakarta), Java. As the plantation flourishes, a Dutch East Indian
company, better known as VOC decided to build another plantation at
the state of Pasundan by forced labour. These coffee beans were
first exported to the West at around ***0 by VOC. This export
sparked the first enormous consumption of coffee outside Arab and
Ethiopia. However, things began to change due to the outbreak of
coffee leaf rust disease which destroyed *0% of the coffee trees in
the plantation. VOC then set its eyes on other parts of the
Indonesian archipelago. Since then, the development of Javanese
coffee has slowed down tremendously as compared to other parts of
Indonesian archipelago. Therefore, we are committed to reinstate
its position as the world’s leading coffee source by bringing West
Javanese coffee beans to the world market. We are trying hard to
achieve this progressively with the aim of restoring thepast glory
of Javanese coffee beans.
