EPA has recently showed a “BIG NO” signal to Chatham Rock Phosphate mining for the best interest of the environment.

The official decision is delivered by Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) to restrict the commencement of mining at the sea bed for an exclusive Rock Phosphate as they believe; it is not favorable news for the environment, aquaculture, and oceans, said Green party.

The association passed the acknowledgment of its decision which is taken by the executive team appointed by EPA to restrict the Chatham Rock Phosphate Ltd for extracting Chatham Rock phosphate from the sea bed, as it will reflect negative consequences over the present benthic environment at Chatham Rise. Moreover, EPA also mentioned all the obligations for keeping the sustainable environment and promotes vigilance.

Gareth Hughes, a spoke person of green party stated that, “EPA has made an exceptional decision with respect to safeguard the environment, ocean and fishery industry which were very much concerned and gathered on one page against radical destructions that might be occurred as a result of mining.

The credit also goes to such inhabitants who protest and done every possible effort to restrict mining activities on unique Chatham Rise to save the environment.

The Chathan Rise is a home of thousands of Kiwis who will never want to watch its destruction. There is also a huge aquatic life and sea corals present which may be demolished once sea bed mining started.

It is for the Government of New Zealand to awaken and stop their anti-environmental policies through adopting smart and green environment approaches that will facilitate the Kiwis, suggested Gareth Hughes.
