Scotland Sets Benchmark in Renewable Sector

Our future world is very outrageous when tied-up with fossil fuel as the primary source of energy. Therefore, it is very significant for every state authority to employ renewable energy measures to protect the world from prospective damage. Scotland has taken an initiative by setting a benchmark of shifting their total energy sector into environmental friendly renewable energy.

The government declared that, they are getting more energy from wind turbines and solar system technologies as compared to other emission oriented sources like gas, nuclear energy and coal.

According to official statistics, the country has generated 32% of the energy from renewable energy sources during the first half of 2014. It seems that cleanliness energies generate a record high of 10.3 TWh than any other traditional power sources did previously.

The CE of Scottish Renewables, Niall Stuart stated that, the Renewables have become the primary sources of the state’s power generating sector, which is a privilege for us as it shows the series of investment made in the sector in turn to provide record level of electricity than before to residential and commercial units.

Before the transition to renewable sources, the majority of the energy sector rested on nuclear technology as a primary source of power generation with 7.8 TWh during the first two quarters, followed by coal with energy production capacity of 5.6 TWh, and very low involvement of natural gas that contributed only 1.4 TWh in the total energy.

This is the big achievement that is achieved by the Scottish government and a piece of proud for any government who thinks about Scottish economy, environment and health society, said Stuart. “As much as the units generated from renewable sources, the level of relying over fossil fuels imported from overseas will be decreased as well as the carbon emissions.”

During the month’s start, WWF Scotland shared some facts that the October proved to be a striking month for the wind energy sector of the country, by fulfilling 100% need of residential units across the country. Lang Banks, director of WWF Scotland added that, “wind power generating enough electricity to power 126% of the needs of every home in Scotland, it really was a bumper month for renewable in Scotland.”

The chief executive of country’s Renewable, Staurt Niall Stuart summed up with a statement that although the renewable energy sector has made a great influence within a short frame of time but it still needs to be explored for future benefits. Even though, the sources like marine energy and offshore wind power have just started their operations, and under development phases, but they have great potential for making contribution in country’s future energy sector, if the regime reacts positively for further development.
