A mole (nevi) are a nevucellular skin ocurrence located in the skin various layers. Sometimes, moles can be very unsightly as when they protrude from the skin. They may contain dark hair and they may be dangerous. They are usually brown in color and can be of various sizes and shapes. Moles are mostly benign, but typical moles (dysplastic nevi) may develop into malignant melanoma, a potentially fatal form of skin cancer. Before removing a mole, please consult a physician to ensure that it is not cancerous and is safe for removal. Please refer a mole to a physician especially if the following are observed: Those with spontaneous ulcerations or bleeding; those with pain and itching; congenital and huge moles; those that changes in size, color and shape; those with unexplained inflammatory changes.
