Evergreen Jade™ is the latest premium nephrite jade discovered in Western Washington. In its highest grades, this material is a deep, highly translucent green with no inclusions and finely felted fibers.  This fine felting makes the jade very hard and allows it to be brought to a mirror polish with ease.  The jewelry and carvings made from this jade glow even under relatively mundane light conditions, giving it a sometimes icey appearance.

The "Cat's Eye" grade of our Evergreen Jade™ exhibits an aligned chatoyance, known as "cat's eye," in properly oriented finished cabochons.  This cat's eye effect causes a bright line to run from the top of the bottom of the stone.  The line then shifts as the stone moves relative to its illuminating light source.  See the attached video for an example of this beautiful optical phenomenon.

As our exploration efforts continue, we are finding even more beautiful and interesting outcrops of this Evergreen Jade™. Each giant seed is different, containing some combination of pure translucent green nephrite, chatoyance, semi-botryoidal swirls, and metallic flecks. We are learning a great deal about how these seeds have formed, so we can now consistently extract all grades of Evergreen Jade™ in commercial quantities.  Keep an eye on our website (WashingtonJade.com) as we continue to roll out our most spectacular Washington jades.
