As we all know raw Sulphur is required to be melted before it is burnt in Sulphur Burner. Conventionally live steam of about **7 kg/cm2 is used as heating media for this purpose.

Now a day’s people are very much cautious about the steam consumption in the sugar plant. Even at some places live steam is used only for driving the turbines, no 7 kg/cm2 and **4 kg/cm2 steam is used anywhere in the plant, not even at centrifugal station.

 From the above energy conservation point of view, `VISHWA’ has developed Waste heat recovery system for Sulphur Burners. The system consists of Vaporiser i.e. heat exchanger with SS Pipes of 6”NB, with electrical heating elements, safety valve, temperature sensor and a temperature control system. Sulphur Burner is equipment in which lot of heat is generated while burning the Sulphur to produce SO2 gas for Sulphitation process. This heat is required to be extracted out to bring down the final gas temperature. A cold water jacket is provided for the burner for heat extraction purpose. In other words heat generated inside the burner is wasted and simultaneously live steam is used to melt the raw Sulphur.
