Product Description

The chess set was constructed using old carpentry techniques and tools from years ago. There are several species of wood used in the set. • The playing surface is a slice from a pecan tree (dark squares) with oak inlay (lighter squares). • The stand is composed of white birch (legs) and oak (top rails and cross member). • The pieces are oak (the dark side) and sassafras (the light side). The pawns were hand turned on a mini lathe and the back rows were all hand carved. • The weapons are hand made using electrical wire and pluming tubing. There are two stools that acompany the set i have completed one of the two will finish the other shortly. The stools are made in the same style as the set with different speices of wood: pecan, cedar, cherry, and oak Thank you for your interest in my work. To all the wood workers “let the saw dust fly”
