1.General Introduction
Porous Prill Ammonium Nitrate (PPAN) is a kind of Ammonium Nitrate which has low-density Ammonium Nitrate. It includes porous agent and coated agent for caking during storage, transportation process. In order to prill Ammonium Nitrate with low-density Ammonium Nitrate (porous type), melting Ammonium Nitrate is pumped into the top of prilling tower and is mixed with the porous agent.
Ammonium Nitrate produced by Vinacomin mining chemical industry corporation holding limited (Micco) is used efficiently. It is material for producing explosives and is mixed with fuel oil in producing ANFO explosive, low energy ANFO or emulsion explosive. Because of its high porosity, it absorbs oil very well, therefore, it brings optimal blasting energy.

3.Safety in storage and transportation
3.1 Fire hazard property
Ammonium Nitrate is powerful oxidising agent. When it contacts with combustible materials or organic agent, it will get fire.

3.2 Blasting hazard property
Ammonium Nitrate is powerful osidising agent and it can be itself combustible when contacting directly with metal powder and some organic agents such as Urea and acetic acid

Pure Ammonium Nitrate will be exploded when it is bundle closely at high temperature.
Organic material in Ammonium Nitrate increases fire hazard.
Many ion metals play an ỉmportant role in catalyzing thermal decomposition of Ammonium Nitrate.
Free NH3 (pH >4.5) decreases decomposition.
Water will slow down Ammonium Nitrate s decomposition and even reject exploding ability of Ammonium Nitrate

3.3 Fire-fighting
Any methods of cover thoroughly flame ( such as cover with CO2 or foam) will be failed because Ammonium Nitrate owns and releases enough oxygen to maintain the flame.
When solid Ammonium Nitrate is burned into a small flame, the first action to do is pour water into solid Ammonium Nitrate to make it dissolved. Then, the flame can be extinct. For the flame, it is necessary to make air ventilation as much as possible to rapidly disperse heat during burning process. And when solid Ammonium Nitrate is burned into a big flame, should not pour water into all Ammonium Nitrate because the temperature of reaction will dry Ammonium Nitrate and create a cover on Ammonium Nitrate and increase pressure on the Ammonium Nitrate.
After fire-fighting, the most important action is to clean carefully. All surfaces of equipments must be cleaned with water.
Do not use extinguisher (carbon tetrachloride) or acid solution since Ammonium Nitrate will be easily exploded if contact with them.
