A resin-based denture is an artificial dental appliance used to replace missing teeth. It consists of two main components: the artificial tooth and the abutment. The role of the abutment is to hold the artificial teeth together and to transmit the chewing forces exerted by the artificial teeth evenly to the alveolar ridge.
The main material used to make the resin base is denture resin, a polymer material that can be formed in a certain ratio. Depending on the method of polymerisation and curing, denture base resins can be divided into three main categories: heat-cured, room-temperature cured and light-cured. In addition, there are new curing methods such as injection moulding and microwave curing.
