Vulcan ***-KA General Characteristics

Washes are applied to cores and molds as an insulating and protective coating that peels the sand from the metal and produces a better casting finish. Factors influencing the selection of a wash include type of sand used, type of metal, coverage desired, method of application and the liquid selected as the carrier for the wash.

Design: For cascading and flow coating large vertical cores.
Base: Carbon and high temperature refractory base (does not contain silica)
Bond: Medium bond
Suspension: Excellent suspension characteristics

Suggested Applications Casting: Grey Iron, Ductile Iron, and Non-ferrous castings.
Sand Systems: Resin or clay bonded sand.
Application Technique: Sprayed, brushed, or flow coated on Cores and Molds. Advantages - Excellent resistance to sand burn in and metal penetration in
  heavy cross sections
