Product Description

The ELISA HBsAg reagent kit is designed for detection of surface antigen of Hepatitis B virus (HBsAg) in human blood serum (plasma) by applying ELISA technique. The ELISA HBsAg reagent kit allows to detected mutant forms of Hepatitis B virus.
 In a clinical laboratory analysis of various forms of viral hepatitis B (HBV), a following number of serological markers of this disease are determined: structural antigens (HBsAg and HBeAg), as well as specific antibodies of the IgM and IgG classes to HBcore antigen and IgG antibodies to HBs and HBe antigens.

HBsAg is a main marker of HBV infection, a structural protein responsible for the adsorption of the virus on hepatocytes. It appears in the blood as a first marker after **5 weeks from the moment of infection until the onset of clinical symptoms and can be detected during acute hepatitis for several months at fairly high concentrations. In case of a favorable course of disease HBsAg disappears withing **6 months after infection contamination. If it does not happen, a chronic hepatitis is diagnosed.
The HBsAg concentration in the serum (plasma) of patients diagnosed Hepatitis B virus varies in a wide range - from nanograms to hundreds of micrograms per milliliter. HBsAg elimination from the bloodstream is considered as a main criteria of patient recovery.
ELISA is the most common and highly sensitive of diagnostic methods among laboratory methods for determining HBsAg.
