Description
Cat's claw (uncaria tomentosa) is a tropical vine that grows in rainforest and jungle areas in South America, and is considered one of the most valuable medicinal plants from Peru. Although scientific research has just recently begun to explore cat's claw's benefits, many cultures native to the Amazon rainforest areas have used this herb for hundreds of years.

Current studies show it may have the following effects: A potent anti-inflammatory, boosting the immune system, anti-hypertensive, reducing heart rate, controlling cholesterol, antioxidant, anticancer, as well as use for intestinal aches, and viral and respiratory infections.

A new application of cat's claw is as a food supplement, due to its antioxidants and restorative properties. It can be used directly as an infusion or prepared as an ingredient in drinks, candies, cereal bars, enriched cereals and nectars.
