INSERTS ARE USED IN PLASTIC PARTS TO STRENGTHEN IT WHERE MACHINE SCREWS ARE INSTALLED. IT GIVES FREEDOM TO INSTALL AND REMOVE SCREWS MORE THAN ONCE. THE INSERTS ARE MAINLY MADE OF METALS WHICH IS ROBUST IN NATURE AND GIVE PROTECTION AGAINST WEAR.

THREADED INSERTS ARE NORMALLY USED IN THERMOPLASTIC OR THERMOSET PLASTIC. THERMOPLASTICS ARE SOLID AT NORMAL TEMPERATURES, BUT GETS SOFT AND MELT AT HIGH TEMPERATURES. WHILE THERMOSET PLASTICS ARE THE KIND OF PLASTIC WHICH HOLD ITS SHAPE WHICH IT GETS AT MANUFACTURING TIME. INSERT CAN BE MOLDED IN PLASTIC THROUGH A VARIETY OF METHODS. LIKE ULTRASONIC, THERMAL AND PRESS-IN.

ULTRASONIC METHOD IS THE MOST SUITABLE METHOD FOR THERMOPLASTIC MATERIALS. IN IT AN INSERT IS PLACED IN DRILLED OR MOLDED HOLE. AFTER THAT ULTRASONIC HORN CONTACTS THE INSERT AND DELIVERS ULTRASONIC VIBRATIONS. THE ULTRASONIC ENERGY GENERATED DUE TO VIBRATING ACTION IS CONVERTED TO THERMAL ENERGY, WHICH ALLOWS THE INSERT TO BE MELTED INSIDE THE HOLE. AT THE SAME TIME THE HORN FORCES THE INSERT INTO ITS POSITION. WHEN THE INSERT IS POSITIONED PROPERLY; THE VIBRATIONS ARE STOP AND EQUIPMENT APPLIES PRESSURE UNTIL THE PLASTIC GETS COOL. THIS PREVENTS PULL-OUT.

THERMAL INSTALLATION IS VERY SIMILAR TO ULTRASONIC INSTALLATION BUT IN THERMAL INSTALLATION A HEATED TOOL REPLACES ULTRASONIC TRANSDUCER (HORN). THE HEATED TOOL PASSES THE HEAT TO THE INSERT AND PLASTIC STARTS MELTING, SIMALTANEOUSLY PRESSURE OF TOOL FORCES THE INSERT TO TAKE ITS POSITION.

PRESS-IN INSERTS ARE THE EASIEST TO INSTALL. YOU JUST NEED TO PUSH-IN THE INSERT IN MOLDED OR DRILLED HOLE AND DRIVE THE SCREW WITH THE HELP OF SCREWDRIVER. BARBED DESIGN OF THIS TYPE OF INSERT PREVENTS THEM TO PULL-OUT.

MOLDING INSERTS ARE PLACED IN THE MOLD BEFOR THE PLASTIC IS INJECTED. THE INJECTION OF THE PLASTIC COMPLETELY HOLDS THE INSERT ON THE OUTER SURFACE AND GIVES EXCELLENT RETENTION.
