Description
This media is a cellulose material impregnated with insoluble anti-rot salts and rigidifying saturates. The media incorporates an internal geometry of transverse 60 degree and 45 degree alternating flutes. The 60 degree flute carries the water to the face (intake) side of the media while the 45 degree flute is aligned with the direction of air flow.

This flute arrangement is self-cleaning and increases cooling efficiency by causing air turbulence while air is traveling through the media. This media provides 123 square feet of evaporative surface area per cubic foot of media. Efficiency of Glacier-Cor media is about 92% at 200 to 300 feet per minute face velocity in 8" thickness. Life expectancy is dependent upon many factors but is usually 3 to 5 years when properly maintained.

Cooling Efficiency:

Cooling efficiency is based on "saturation efficiency" (ability to transfer water vapor into the air stream). The two factors to be considered in determining the efficiency of the media are media thickness and air flow face velocity. The following table defines the saturation efficiency by media thickness and face velocity. Data are based on performance information as published by Glacier-Cor for their Super Saturation media.
