Yunnan Xinmeilu Aluminum Foil Co., Ltd (YXAF), which locates in Jinmasi, Kunming, is a Sino-American joint venture established among Aluminum Company of American (Alcoa) and Yunnan Metallurgical Group and China Tobacco Yunnan Materials Group Co., Ltd. on March 28, 1996, by approval of Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation. The total investment and registered capital is US$67, 000, 000, Alcoa shares 56%, and the Chinese partners share 44%.

The available specifications and capacity for YXAF�s manufacture include light gauge aluminum foil (thickness: 0.0045--0.009mm) 15000 tons/year, foil stock for light gauge 8000 tons/year, others 2000 tons/year�with total 25000 tons/year.

YXAF is the first foil processing manufacturer who can manufacture 0.0045-0.005mm ultra-thin aluminum foil with caster foil stock in batches, the project of �The Application of Techniques for 0.0045- 0.005mm aluminum foil with caster foil stock� which gained lots of technology patent is an originated innovation in the world. The project is assessed by China Nonferrous Industrial Association, formed verified opinions as follow: The project took a lead of adopting self-made casting stock for batch production of 0.0045 aluminum foil in world wide, broke through the traditional processing method of using hot casting rolls to make aluminum foil of thickness less than 0.005mm, all data reached the of technology standard of homogeneous product in the world. Steady techniques, short process, energy saving, low cost, friendly environment, related patents formed a set of independent intellectual property processing technology system. The product had filled in the gap of domestic market, substituted imported product and realized batch export. Production quality reached the leading processing method of making homogeneous product by hot casting roll in the world, a set of processing technology reached the leading level in the world. �This is a project with advanced technology, reasonable process flow and ripe techniques; it�s in conformity with environmental protection, and EHS policy. Manufacturing aluminum foil in batches with caster foil stock is the first time in China and outside China, which has independent intellectual property. The main technical parameter can meet the requirements from the domestic and overseas customers; furthermore, some of parameters are better than the homogeneous product outside China. It will facilitate domestic electrical components going smaller and lighter. It fits in the national principles of resource utilization synthetically and economy society and brings great effect in technical improvements in aluminum processing industry and adjustment in the structure of production. It creates significant benefits for both economy and society. It is a milestone, and contributes to Chinese aluminum foil industry to get into international market. This project, which broke the traditional conception of aluminum foil production, is an originated innovation in the world. YXAF is also the writer of National Standard for aluminum foil for Power Electronic Capacitor.
