S.C. "MAT" S.A. Craiova is one of the first Romanian manufacturing companies specialized in producing universal tractors, farm implements and other agricultural machinery, tools, installations, equipment, as well as in building big tractors designed for earth moving operations and land reclamation.

Designing, manufacturing and marketing of the universal and special purpose tractors of 45/ 53 H.P. and 200 H.P., diverse trailers, producing a large range of more than 58 agricultural machinery and farm implements, forging and stamping devices for specific parts, as well as the providing of other various services and technical assistance in the field of agriculture and its connecting branches.

The company was founded in 1878 through the first establishment of an agricultural machinery manufacturing and repairing shop - a branch of Clayton - Shussliworth Company of Lincoln, England.
