Description
Lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) is the main bioactive constituent of Ningxia wolfberry It has a molecular weight between1.0×±04~8.8×±04. It is a compound polysaccharide composed of six monosaccharide chains (arabinose, rhamnose, xylose, mannose, galactose and glucose) linked with polypeptide chains. It is a nonspecific immunity enhancer and has the function of enhancing the immunity and disease resistance, thus producing the effect of antisenility, anticarcinoma, antiradiation, antihepatitis and anti-AIDS. At present, the pharmacological and clinical study of wolfberry has become a conspicuous subject. While carrying out the pure fundamental research on the structural characteristics, we have designed a set of scheme for industrial isolation and purification of wolfberry polysaccharide by using the advanced techniques of membrane separation and vacuum-freezing drying to extract raw wolfberry polysaccharide without destroying the structure of wolfberry polysaccharide. The technology is advanced and simple. The experiments on the technological conditions for industrial production of pure wolfberry polysaccharide by using column chromatography have been completed. Small batches of white fibrous flocky wolfberry polysaccharide crystals can be provided and can be used as raw medicine for making injections. The technology of this project has been appraised by expert group to have attained international advanced standards. Pharmacological and clinical experiments have proved the function in enhancing immunity, antisenility and antiperoxidation of wolfberry polysaccharide. At present, the study on the wolfberry polysaccharide has gone deep into the frontline of anticarcinoma and anti-AIDS. China has already possessed the conditions for carrying out the pharmacological experiments in this field. The investment in the pharmacological experiments on anticarcinoma and anti-AIDS of pure wolfberry polysaccharide should be increased.
