Kenya Asal Resources Agency Ltd (KARA LTD) is a private company
dealing with natural resources in the ASAL (Arid and Semi-Arid
Lands) counties of Northern Kenya and North East Uganda,
specializing in the collection, grading and sale of gum Arabic,
resins and other natural resources and consultancies on the NTFP
(Non Timber Forest Product) value chains. KARA works with
communities in the dry lands of Kenya and Uganda aiming at
developing the market for the greater NTFP sector. The company was
registered in ***8 as a corporate body and has worked closely with
institutional partners, development actors and global buyers
since.
KARA is a leading company in Kenya for the supply of 1st and 2nd
grade Gum Arabic, Frankincense, Myrrh and Opoponax/Hagar. We are
rapidly expanding, working already in two countries, providing
buyers with raw gum Arabic and black frankincense and from ***8
powdered gum Arabic and
essential oil extract from black
Frankincense. We have field offices in Marsabit and
Turkana, storage and an administrative unit in Nairobi: Our Field
managers assure continuous collection and grading at community
level while further value addition takes place in Nairobi, were
buyers can visit and collect samples. KARA is also a leading
consultancy agency in the region using its expertise for studies
and assessments alike solely on the NTFP value chains in arid
lands, working closely with pastoralist communities.
