Taiwan
|
The island of Taiwan, located around 120 kilometers off the south east coast of mainland China, is the leading provider of contract computer chip manufacturing (foundry services) in the world. The economy of Taiwan is mainly controlled by small and medium sized businesses, instead of the large business sector. Taiwan has significant deposits of coal, but the country doesn't have sufficient deposits of oil and gas. The amount of oil and gas needed for transportation and power, almost all of it, has to be imported. Taiwan's main crops are rice, fruits, sugar cane and vegetables. |
