**4 Vulcan Roll Coating General Characteristics
Design: Developed as a protective coating in production of work and back up rolls. Roll Coatings that are applied to sand also have some unique requirements compared to other casting. The amount of metal that must pass the length of time the metal remains molten require extremely good erosion and elevated temperature bond characteristics.
Base: Carbon base
Bond: Medium bond
Suspension: Good suspension characteristics Suggested Applications Cast Roll: For Grey Iron, Ductile Iron and Non-ferrous cast rolls.
Sand System: For oil bonded or dry sand systems.
Application Technique: Sprayed, brushed or swabbed on Cores and Molds, Necks, and Wabbler Ends of rolls. Advantages - Low gas
