determination of the in-place density and unit weight of compacted OR firmly bonded soil using a rubber balloon apparatus and NOT suitable for very soft soil which will deformunder slight pressure or in which the volume of the hole cannot be maintained constant.

Procedures:
The apparatus is used over a hole excavated in the soil.
Water is pumped into a flexible balloon which is forced into the hole under water pressure.
The amount of water displaced can be determined from the graduations on the scale.

This apparatus is consists of:
- graduated plexiglass cylinder ***0ml. capacity housed within an aluminium alloy base and metal casting guard, stop valve, a reversible rubber aspirator pump, a density plate and *2 rubber balloons.
