The 4.*-liter Toyota 1VD-FTV engine has been produced at the plant of the Japanese concern since ***7 and is installed on the Land Cruiser **0 SUV, as well as the similar Lexus LX **0d. In addition to the bi-turbo diesel version, there is a modification with one turbine for the Land Cruiser *0.

The 1VD-FTV engine is Toyotas first V8 diesel engine. It replaced the old and proven inline *-cylinder 1HD-FTE. To comply with Euro 5 regulations, the engine is equipped with a water-cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system with a catalytic converter and a diesel particulate filter.
