EF *****0mm f/2.8L IS II USM adopts a newly developed *3 lens elements in *9 groups optical design. The inclusion of a Ca non proprietary fluorite element and 5 UD elements drastically minimizes secondary chromatic aberration commonly found in telephoto zoom lens, both in axial and magnification type chromatic aberration. The new optical system thus realizes ultra-high image quality with high contrast and high resolution. Its minimum focusing distance has been reduced to 1.2m with an improved 0.*1x magnification to give extra flexibility. Photographers can now get closer to shoot without the need of swapping lenses.
