Export quality cloves meet the following standards;
 
Physical appearance - sound/good condition, whole, bold, well colored, reasonable uniform in appearance, free from mustiness and contains not more than:
•           4% of stems, mother of cloves and extraneous matter.
•           *2% kocker cloves and
•           *0% moisture.
•           The minimum oil content is *6% based on volume by weight.
•           Cloves are exported in double bags of sisal, each weighing *0kg.
•           Zanzibar cloves meets the American Spice Trade Association (ASTA) Cleanliness Specifications for spices, and please note that neither pesticides no artificial fertilizers are used in the cultivation and production of Zanzibar cloves."
