Production Methods
Generally, a synthesis method using acrolein as a raw material is adopted. Acrylic aldehyde and methyl mercaptan are condensed in the presence of formic acid and copper acetate to form *-methylthiopropanal. Mix with sodium cyanide and ammonium bicarbonate solution. Reaction at *0°C yields methylthioethylhydantoin. Without separation and purification, it can be heated to **0°C with *8% sodium hydroxide solution to hydrolyze to produce sodium methionine. Neutralize with hydrochloric acid to get finished methionine. Each ton of product consumes **0kg of acrolein, **0kg of methyl mercaptan, and **0kg of sodium cyanide.
