Product Description

A J Services manufacture a wide range of fire dampers which have been designed to be fitted into the ductwork connected to a HVAC system. Fire and smoke dampers play a vital role in the both commercial and residential buildings safety should a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system be in place which is attached to ducting, by preventing either/or both fire and smoke from spreading further through the system. It is a legal requirement to have fire and smoke dampers in place in a commercial buildings in many instances, and where they are they are required to undergo at a minimum yearly testing to ensure they are still in working order. Fire dampers work because of an attached fusible link, this link monitors the surrounding air temperature and once it reached a pre-determined temperature the blades in the damper will be forced shut and the fire contained in that area - where they are able to withstand the fire from spreading for 2 hours. The temperature is traditionally set to *2 degrees, although this can be changed if needed.

The dampers can be used in either high or low velocity and manufactured from galvanised steel, with the blades being housed in rectangular/square casing. These can be fitted to both circular/spiral tube ducting as well as rectangular. Whilst the housing of the damper is rectangular the dampers can still be fitted to spiral/circle ducting - this is achieved through the use of a spigot which allows for immediate connection. Because of this it means that the blades will also be out of airstream. The rectangular options differ slightly to the circular, the blades can either in or out of the airstream - there is also a range which can internally in to the duct, rather than having walls built around the damper. Both circular and rectangular dampers as standard are supplied with hanging cleats or lugs so that they can be positioned into place and remain securely in place. They can also have additional frames added either a drywall/plasterboard or HEVAC frame. Dampers manufactured by AJS start at *0mm and go up to a maximum of ***0mm.
