DESCRIPTION: 

EGYBOND sutures are sterile non-absorbable braided polyester which composed of poly ethylene terephthalate . EGYBOND is braided to provide easy handling and secure knot and coated by Silicon to minimize the capillarity and for smooth passage. EGYBOND is available undyed (white) or green.  EGYBOND complies with the requirement of USP and EP

INDICATIONS:

EGYBOND sutures are for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation including use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic and neurosurgical procedures.

APPLICATION:

Depending on patient condition and surgeon experience, needle and suture size can be selected

PERFORMANCE:

EGYBOND suture elicits a minimal initial inflammatory reaction in tissues which is followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissue. EGYBOND suture is not absorbed, nor degradated .

Due to very high tensile strength of the polyester and its prolonged (indefinitely) tensile strength the Silicon coated polyester (EGYBOND) is used in the following:

1.           Tissue approximation with high security.

2.   Prosthetic implants fixation with permanent support.

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

The use of this suture is contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity or allergy to polyester.

WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS:     

As the risk of wound dehiscence may vary with the suture material and site of application, surgeon should be familiar with surgical procedures and techniques involving non absorbable sutures before using EGYBOND for wound closure.

Acceptable surgical practice should be followed with respect to drainage and closure of infected wounds.

As with any foreign body, prolonged contact of any suture with salt solution such as found in biliary and urinary tracts, may cause calculus formation.

Each USP size has its upper limits tensile strength (USP and EP), over stretch above this limits may lead to suture damage.

Adequate knot security requires the standard surgical technique of flat and square ties with additional throws if indicated by surgical circumstances and the experience of the surgeon.

When handling this or any other suture material, care should be taken to avoid damage during the application of surgical instruments such as forceps or needle holders.

Care should be taken during the holding of the needle by needle holder, so grasp the needle in an area 1/3 to 1/2 of the distance from the attachment end to the point otherwise the needle may be fractured or break.

All needles are magnetizable and should there for not be used in an active magnetic field. The users should exercise caution when handling the surgical needles to avoid inadvertent needle injury.

DISPOSAL:

Discard used needle in 'Sharps' containers, disposal according to the local authority law

ADVERSE REACTIONS:

As all sutures EGYBOND may cause minimal adverse reactions include inflammatory tissue reaction, localized irritation and/or allergic response in patients that are known to be sensitive to polyester.

STERILITY:

EGYBOND sutures are sterilized by ethylene oxide gas. Do not resterilize! Do not use if package is opened or damaged.

STORAGE:

Recommended storage conditions: Below *0 Co, away from moisture and direct heat. Do not use after expiry date.

HOW SUPPLIED:

EGYBOND sutures are available sterile strands in USP sizes ranging from 5/0 to 0 (metric sizes **3.5). EGYBOND sutures are available either in one dozen box (*2 pieces each) or box has 6 packet (*0 pieces each, 5 white & 5 green). It supplied either with or without teflon pledged.
