DESCRIPTION:
EGYMIX is a partially absorbable monofilament knitted mixed mesh, composed of nearly equal parts of *0% synthetic non absorbable polypropylene (undyed and dyed with phthalocyanine # CI****0) and *0% absorbable Polyglycolide-co-Caprolactone (PGA-PCL) after the complete absorption of the Polyglycolide-co-Caprolactone only the polypropylene mesh remain which is designed with special structure and shape to fit the physiological stresses to which the abdominal wall subject.
INDICATION:
Since Polypropylene/PGA-PCL mesh is inert, it is recommended when permanent or extended tissue support and stabilization of facial structures of abdominal wall is surgically required as in incisional and inguinal hernia repair.
APPLICATION
Overlapping all sides of the defect by 5 cm is ideal and fixing EGYMIX with non absorbable suture 2/0 (e.g. EGYPROLENE) with safe distance 1cm from edge and 1 cm between fixation points
-incisional hernia; extra peritoneal positioning is a must with closure of anterior fascia over it
-inguinal hernia; laparoscopic or open procedures are applicable with overlapping and fixation as incisional
PERFORMANCE:
EGYMIX (partially absorbable) keep the initial stiffness as pure polypropylene (non-absorbable) mesh which is helpful during the implantation procedure, and on the other hand it will loss *0% of its mass after *0 days to avoid mass heaviness felt by the patient and the residual polypropylene will be stable with it`s advantage of malleability and strength to match normal abdominal wall dynamic.
CONTRAINDICATION:
EGYMIX must not be used in the inguinal canal e.g. as in case of plug or following planned intraoprative or accidental opening of the gastrointestinal track.
EGYMIX must always be separated from the abdominal cavity by peritoneum.
WARNINGS & PRECAUTIONS:
The surgeon should be familiar with surgical procedures and techniques of non absorbable mesh before applying EGYMIX.
The use of EGYMIX in contaminated wounds may require the removal of the material because of the subsequent infection as this may cause fistula formation or mesh rejection.
Adequate overlapping of the defect on all sides is required to stabilize the fascial edges.
Incase of using EGYMIX in patient with future growth potential or tissue expansion such as infants ,children or women who may become pregnant ,the surgeon should take in consideration that this product don’t stretch as the patient grow.
DISPOSAL:
Disposal according to the local authority law
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
As with any mesh the use of EGYMIX may result in transitory local irritation at the wound site and a transitory inflammatory foreign body response (seroma formation)
STERILITY:
EGYMIX is sterilized by ethylene oxide gas. Do not resterilize! Do not use if package is opened or damaged!
STORAGE:
Recommended storage conditions: Below *0 Co, away from moisture and direct heat. Do not use after expiry date.
