To get higher milk production, dairy cows need more supplement in energysources. The cheapest way is from oils & fats. However, oils & fats will invariably cause more harm than good because they break down in the rumen, into fatty acids. These same fatty acids will then be subjected to processes that will slowdown microbial activities in the cow rumen. This disruption will lead toproblems such as:
Lack of appetite •
Slow recovery after calving •
Low milk-yield •

Calcium effect in cows:
The Ca bonding with fatty acids prevents reaction in
the rumen, to provide inertness. This effect allows
the dairy cow to recovery after calving.
The Ca salt stays inert in the rumen, and then
passes on through to the intestine where the lower
pH there will naturally break down the Ca bonding
and allow for optimal intestinal digestions.
