Homocysteine (Hcy) reagent is a reagent used to quantitatively detect total Hcy in human serum and plasma in vitro. This reagent is helpful for the diagnosis and treatment of patients suspected of having hyperhomocysteinemia and homocystinuria.At present, Hcy has become a recognized marker of cardiovascular disease at home and abroad.
Reaction Principle
The bound or polymerized Hcy (oxidized Hcy) is first reduced to the free Hcy, then the free Hcy and serine form cystathionine under the action of cystathionine synthase (CBS), and the formed cystathionine forms Hcy, pyruvate and ammonia under the action of cystathionine lyase (CBL). Pyruvate reacts with NADH (coenzyme) under the action of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), and the rate of conversion of NADH to NAD+ at **0 nm per minute is directly positively correlated with the concentration of Hcy.
