MDP is in the stimulant family and is a new research chemical with its chemical formula being C*2H*7NO2, an average mass of **2, a molecular mass of **7.*3. The IUPAc name for MDP is (*-Benzo[1,3]dioxol**-ylmethyl-propyl)-methyl-amine.

Research on MDP was published by ACD/Labs', US Environmental Protection Agency's EPISuite, and ChemAxon. In the reports by ACD/Labs the chemical has *5 hydrogen acceptors, 9 hydrogen donors, *2 freely rotating bonds, an index of refraction of 1.**8, with a surface tension of *3.9±5.0 dyne/cm, a flash point of **2.9±*4.3 °C and a boiling point of ***3.8±*5.0 °C at **0 mmHg.

The research published by US Environmental Protection Agency's EPISuite showed the boiling point to be **2.*9, a melting point of **9.*4, and water solubility at *5 deg C (mg/L): 7.**4e***4. Removal in wastewater treatment showed total removal at 1.*5%, total biodegradation at .*9% total sludge adsorption at 1.*5%, and total to air at 0.*0%.

ChemAxon published a topology analysis, which revealed an atom count of *6, bond count of *6, cyclomatic number of 1, chain atom count of *8, chain bond count of *8, asymmetric atom count of 8, and rotatable bond count of *2. Under geometry, the report revealed a dreiding energy equal to *7.*1 kcal/mol with a volume equal to **3.*3 3, a minimal projection area equal to *1.*7 2 and maximum projection area equal to **9.*4 2.
