The transformer is one of the important electrical appliances in electric system. It is similar to power transformer to transform voltage or current in the circuit. However, transforming voltage and current by power transformer mainly used to transfer the electric energy, while transforming votlage and current by transformer is to measuring and montoring votlage and current in the circuit.
Generally, the power transformer have large capacity as well as have large change difference of voltage or current, while transformer have smaller capacity as well as smaller change difference of votlage and current.
In measuring circuit, the transformer that transform current and supply electricity for current meter and relay is called current transformer, the transformer that transform voltage and supply electricity for votlage meter and relay is called votlage transformer.
