Ovulation is regulated by the elevation of human luteinizing hormone (hLH). Usually, around *4 days before the period starts, hLH has a brief, significant rapid increase called the "LH surge". The hLH surge triggers the release of egg for the ovary. Statistics have shown that conception is most likely to occur within *6 hours following the LH surge. Therefore, the hLH surge is an ideal indicator for predicting ovulation.
