GLACIAL BAY
ORGANIC CLAY INC.
PRODUCT
INFORMATION
Found in the coastal region of British Columbia, this rare
deposit of more than *0 minerals and trace elements is composed of
particles as fine as mist (the majority are less than .*5 microns
in size), making it one of the finest glacial marine clays yet
discovered in the world.
In tests conducted over the past twenty years, it has been found
that most clays have a pH factor range from 7 - *4 on the alkaline
side of the scale. Glacial marine clay has a pH factor of 6.5 to
7.3, as close to neutral as possible. This is very desirable for
skin and hair applications.
In its natural state, it has a moisture content of *5.5%. Unit
weight (wet) is **9 lb/cu foot. Specific gravity is 1.9. When
comparing the percentage of mineral content with other clays,
Canadian glacial marine clay is closest to the Delft Marl which is
approximately ****4% silica and ****5% aluminum and***0% iron.
A silky warm gray color when wet, it dries in fifteen to twenty
minutes (depending on the thickness of application) to a light
aqua-marine hue. It feels great going on, improving the
circulation, detoxifying, exfoliating away dead skin cells while it
tightens up wrinkles, leaving the skin feeling soft, smooth and
super alive. Having a bio-stimulant effect on the cells, it
produces local skin warming, accelerates physiological processes
and increases cell division in surrounding tissue. It’s the perfect
balancing and revitalizing agent.
Glacial marine clay slows the effect of aging on the skin surface,
rejuvenating its tired complexion and renewing the skin’s
elasticity.
Glacial marine clay cannot be produced synthetically!!
The infinitesimal size of its particles have an amazing absorptive
ability and net negative ion charge which attract most positively
charged bacteria, thereby detoxifying and deep cleansing the
skin.

Physical Properties
Generally, clay properties are assessed by six criteria:
Mineral composition
Non-mineral composition
Texture
Ion exchange characteristics
Organic material
Soluble salts
Glacial marine clay belongs to the green family of clays. According
to Dr. Raymond Dextreit, an expert on clays and the author of the
book ‘Our Earth, Our Cure’ the green family of clays are the most
desirable and the only type recommended for ingestion. The clay’s
colloidal structure means that the clay is formed in particles as
fine as the mist in a fog bank. To be classified as colloidal, the
majority of particles of the material must not exceed .*5 microns
in size.
They may be so infinitesimal as to be invisible under a powerful
microscope. A cubic inch of these particles would have a total
surface area of more than five thousand square inches. This
tremendous surface area of the clay’s colloidal particles accounts
for its incredible absorptive action.
Glacial clay can be used directly from the ground. It reveals a
smooth texture when rubbed between the fingers. This fine texture
can be enhanced with proper screening and the addition of the
correct amount of water.
The greenish/blue/grey clay is a homogeneous mass of a soft
putty-like consistency when first removed from the clay beds. Over
the years, “systems studies have included chemical analysis, x-ray
diffraction, ultra and electron-photomicrography and
electrophoresis studies that show the clay mined is a natural
product composed of quartz and mica, representing a small course
fraction, or grit, and an aluminum silicate, the particles of which
are of such small dimension that some of them cannot be made
clearly distinguishable even with the electron microscope”.
When glacial clay is mixed, whipped or beaten with a rotary blade,
the clay’s consistency changes. It goes from a dense, hard packed,
lumpy condition to a free flowing, less viscose, almost meringue
like texture. After being processed, the clay is easier to work
with and can be filled into jars, bottles and tubes with the
minimum of difficulty.
History & Research
Located near the shoreline, glacial marine clay is a land-based and
inter-tidal clay that at some point in history was submerged
beneath the tidal waters of the B.C. coast for tens of thousands of
years. Found in a remote inlet of North Western Canada, surrounded
by the Pacific Ocean in this uninhabited wilderness, it is from
this naturally guarded area that the treasured green/grey glacial
marine clay is found in rare deposits.
One of the leading scientists, from the United States of America,
an expert on rare clays of the world, devoted a year to a study of
glacial clay deposits.
He stated, “You have in British Columbia, a natural product which
has no parallel in the world today. I am perfectly prepared to put
my reputation as an international scientist at stake in saying that
this product is unique in every way”.
Another expert in clay, a professor of analytical chemistry at the
University of British Columbia stated, “The clay contains rare
elements and rare earths”.
Medical doctors and naturopathic practitioners are currently
recommending clays of different types for a host of ailments and
conditions, with extremely encouraging results. Ancient peoples of
various civilizations (including First Nations} were well aware of
the benefits of natural clays and used them extensively. The local
grizzly bears and other indigenous animals instinctively use the
glacial marine clay and sediments for healing a host of injuries by
rolling and laying in it. Veterinarians in North America and Europe
who have tried clay on animals are very impressed with the results,
some of which have been spectacular.
Extensive testing of other clay deposits leads us to believe
that our clay is the only Canadian glacial marine clay that meets
the worldwide regulations regarding heavy metal content for topical
cosmetic applications. These regulations have yet to be
strictly enforced, allowing some clays above those set guidelines
to be used in today’s market.
