Myrrh is a natural gum which comes from the genus of the Commiphora tree. Myrrh is primarily derived from commiphora myrrha, a large shrub or small tree commonly known as malmul in somali. The pale-yellow gum resin exudes naturally from the stems and hardens as it dries in the air and sun, but the flow can be accelerated by wounding the tree. Myrrh has been used throughout history as a perfume, incense, and medicine. Our myrrh is harvested in traditional methods from the commiphora myrrh tree. We and our local cooperatives have access to an exclusive range of forest of mountains of myrrh.
