A unique local treasure, sustainably grown and
hand-harvested in the Hantam Karoo situated in the Northern Cape of
South Africa, where the tea is harvest by hand in the cultivated
fields and brought the processing plant where the tea is shredded
using a tobacco cutter. It is then wet and let overnight to
ferment through a natural fermentation process,
overseen by expert tea-makers. It is this process that results in
the famous and desired rich ruby-red brown color so characteristic
of Rooibos.
The fermented tea is then spread onto a large
drying plane to be dried under the hot South Africa sun, once dried
and gathered, the tea is stored in the tea warehouse according to
international HACCP standards. Our tea is then sieved, sterilized
and packed into our finest packaging for the local and export
market.
Our Green organic Rooibos stems from the same
origin as rooibos, also harvest and shredded the same way and not
naturally fermented. Unfermented green rooibos has a naturally
sweet taste, with a distinctly smooth and easy flavor, containing
higher polyphenols and antioxidant levels. Rooibos (Aspalathus
linearis) is unique and indigenous to South Africa and it is grown
nowhere else in the world. Our Wild Organic Rooibos is grown in the
mountain areas and has no intervention by man as it grows naturally
wild and is harvested sustainably and processed the same as our
other rooibos teas.
