Inshelled Pecans:

WICHITA:

The nuts are large and have purplish black stripes and splotches on clear, brown shells. They are moderately elongated, with the apical end normally a little smaller than the basal end. The nuts are larger than “Western Schley”.

WESTERN SCHLEY:

The nuts are elongated, rounded on the basal (stem) end and tapered toward the apex. Shells are thin and brown with moderate dark brown stripes. Western nuts are well adapted to mechanical shelling, producing a high percentage of unbroken halves.

U.S. standards for "halves" or "half-kernel" mean one of the separated halves of an entire pecan kernel  with a maximum 1/8 of its volume broken or rubbed off.


Shelled Pecans:

Pecan halves are handcracked inshelled pecans prepared from whole, sound, mature nuts and harvested from cultivated pecan trees. Whole nuts are cleaned, shelled, sized and graded to meet and exceed the United States Department of Agriculture's Standards for Grades of Shelled Pecans.


Pecans Pieces:

Pecan pieces are in-shell pecans prepared from whole, sound, mature nuts, of any variety, harvested from cultivated pecan trees. Whole nuts are cleaned, shelled, sized and graded to meet and exceed the United States Department of Agriculture's Standards for Grades of Shelled Pecans.

Pieces are sized through screens with round holes ranging in diameter from 3/*6" to 9/*6".
