Pall ringis the offshoot of raschig ring, the improvement was made by BASF (Badische Aniline Soda Fabric) Aktiengesellschaft in the early ***0s. Pall ring is a hollow cylindrical element of dia equal to its length while ten fingers punched from the cylinder wall extend into the interior of the packing element.
Although the pall ring has the same geometric surface area as the Raschig ring, the interior surfaces of the pall ring are much more accessible to gas and liquid flows due to the opening thru the wall.

Pall ring is one of the most common used and well known tower packing, it is an industry standard design media developed
from Raschig ring, and it is used widely in varieties of applications.
