Tungsten carbide coating are done to the screw shaft surface. The hardness can reach HRC *1.
Screw conveyor is a bulk material transportation device consisting of a shaft with a broad, rotating helical screw blade, called a "flighting", in a tube or trough. It is often referred as an auger conveyor. It is used to feed, distribute, collect or mix and can be equipped to either heat or cool while performing the transfer. Conveyor screw is used in virtually all types of industries including cement, chemical, mining and wastewater treatment. Conveyor screw is also used in food processing industries to transport dry ingredients such as flour, nut, salt and any other raw materials used to produce food products.
Screw conveyor gets wear and tear during the transportation process by the carried materials. Thus, routine maintenance, repair or replacement of screw blade is necessary and this will arise process costs. We apply self-fluxing alloy or tungsten carbide on the shafts and both side of the flights by spray-fusion or HVOF (high velocity oxygen fuel) thermal spray process. This solution makes surface of the screw harder and more wear-resistant.
