D5 is used for the manufacture of different types of molds and tools with large cross and complex shapes which inquire heavy workload. Such as punching die, cold extruding die, circular saw etc.. After quenching and tempering, it’s hardenability, hardness, strength and toughness are all higher than that of D3.
