GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The FM*5Q*2 SPI flash supports the standard Serial peripheral Interface (SPI), and supports the

Dual/Quad SPI: Serial Clock, Chip Select, Serial Data I/O0(DI), I/O1(DO), I/O2(/WP), and I/O3(/HOLD).

SPI clock frequencies of up to **4MHz are supported allowing equivalent clock rates of **8MHz

for Dual Output and **6MHz for Quad Output when using the Fast Read Dual/Quad I/O

instructions. These transfer rates are comparable to those of 8 and **-bit Parallel Flash memories.

The FM*5Q*2 array is organized into *6.**4 programmable pages of ***-bytes each. Up to **6 bytes can be programmed at a time using the Page Program instructions. Pages can be erased

Sector, *2KB Block, *4KB Block or the entire chip.

The devices operate on a single 2.*5V to 3.6V power supply with current consumption as low as 5mA active and 3μA for Deep Power-down. All devices offered in space-saving packages. The

device supports JEDEC standard manufacturer and device identification with a 4K-bit Secured

OTP

FM*5Q*2 is offered in an *-pin plastic ***-mil width VSOP, *-pin plastic ***-mil width SOIC, 6x*-

mm WSON, *-pin PDIP and **-pin plastic ***-mil width SOIC as shown in figure 1a, 1b,1c and 1d

respectively. Package diagrams and dimensions are illustrated at the end of this datasheet.
WRITE PROTECTION

To protect inadvertent writes by the possible noise, several means of protection are applied to the

Flash memory.

STATUS REGISTER

The Read Status Register instruction can be used to provide status on the availability of the Flash

memory array, if the device is write enabled or disabled, the state of write protection and the Quad

SPI setting. The Write Status Register instruction can be used to configure the devices write

protection features and Quad SPI setting. Write access to the Status Register is controlled by in

some cases of the /WP pin.
