Materials for weaving stainless steel wire mesh (wire cloth)are divided into type **4, type **4 L, type **6 and type **6 L
Features:
Type **4:
- Often referred to as ***8 (*8% chromium, 8% nickel) T***4 isthe basic stainless alloy mostly and commonly utilized for wirecloth weaving
- It withstands outdoor exposure without rusting and resistsoxidation at elevated temperature up to 1,**0˚F
- Typical applications for this wire cloth includes usage withchemicals, food products, pharmaceuticals and conditions withexposure to moisture
Type **4 L:
Type **4 L is very similar to T***4, with the difference beingreduced carbon content, which ensures better weaving and secondarywelding characteristics

Stabilized by the addition of 2% molybdenum, T***6 is an ***8alloy
Type **6 has better resistance to corrosion than otherchromium-nickel stainless steels where brine, sulfur-bearing wateror halogen salts (such as chlorides) are present
A valuable property of T***6 is its high creep strength atelevated temperatures
Other mechanical properties and fabricating characteristics aresimilar to T***4
Wire cloth woven from T***6 has extensive use in chemicalprocessing, especially when better corrosion resistance is requiredthan for regular chromium-nickel types
