MCE’s *-Day Mini MBA prepares participants to move into more senior positions or into new functions different from their educational background. Participants are exposed to the core disciplines of general management, and how different functional disciplines work together to achieve the strategy.

MCE’s 5 Day Mini MBA is effective for you if you need to develop your understanding of how the major functions in your company work together to achieve the strategy.

It is an important development step in the career of functional experts who are, or will soon be, appointed into broader management positions: production engineers, R&D engineers, finance managers, sales executives, marketing specialists, logistics managers, etc.

It is also valuable for improving the performance and business contribution of managers, department heads who need to refresh their business knowledge.

Preparation  

Before the workshop you will have some reading and you will prepare a case study. This case study will be actively used throughout the 5 days to bring the management disciplines to life and practice applying them together to a management situation. It is important that all participants prepare to be able to contribute to and benefit from the rich discussion.

Module A: Strategy implementation and Leadership  

You will take the role of a general manager and business leader. You will learn about the challenges one has in this position by sitting in the driver’s seat. You will learn to think strategically and act like a leader. Your MCE facilitator will expose you to strategy models, strategy implementation and leadership frameworks. We will use real life examples and you will apply the learning to the case study.

Module B: Marketing and Sales  

This module is dedicated to understanding and meeting customer needs. You will learn how to find customer insight and act upon market intelligence. You will learn how to formulate “customer value propositions” and how companies become customer-focused. You will learn how sales and marketing work together.

This module is devoted to Supply Chain Management, a key function in many organizations. The supply chain links customers to the globalized and networked world. Supply Chain Management helps companies to gain and sustain competitive advantage. You will learn how a Supply Chain works, and how to align it to the company strategy. You will understand the increasing importance of ICT in the Supply chain and in the wider business.

Module D: Managerial Finance and Accounting  

In this module you will gain basic skills in finance and accounting, as well as learn how to use managerial accounting tools in your job. You will discover the financial implications of decision-making. You will better understand, interpret and act on financial information. You will learn to analyze financial statements, balance sheets, P&L accounts, and cash flow. You will learn the practical aspects of cash budgeting and financial planning, investment appraisal, risk and returns, management of working capital and key financial ratios.

Module E: Case study presentations and wrap-up  

On the final day, we will apply what you have learned during the week in an integrative case study exercise. You’ll work in a team and present your solution. You will get feedback from your peers and from your workshop facilitator. You will also spend some time planning how you will apply the learning to your own situation.
