Product Description

Shea butter from West Africa is noted for its fine quality. It is extracted from the nuts of the Shea-Karite tree sorted, cracked, grilled, pounded and then boiled in water for hours until the Shea Butter rises to the surface.  It is then scooped and left to cool and solidify.  Shea Butter is solid at room temperature although it quickly liquefies right around body temperature. The color of raw shea butter can be cream to greyish yellow and always possesses a nutty scent.
