Shea Butter is an ivory (sometimes yellowish) fat that is extracted from the Shea nut. The nut is the pit of the fruit of the African Shea Tree Vitellaria paradoxa, earlier known asButyrospermum Parkiiwhich flourishes in west Africa. The butter is used for many purposes particularly as an ingredient in cosmetics and chocolate. It is particulary viable in cosmetics because of its natural moisturizing, nourishing and healing benefits on the skin or hair. Other uses of the butter include being used as a fuel and as an nourishing ingredient in food recipes. 





Specifications ::  Shea butter is rich in vitamin A, E, F and K which are fat soluble vitamins, can dissolve in fat. Vitamin A can stimulate the formation of new cells, especially epidermal cells; vitamin E (tocopherol) have antioxidant effects, can delay cell senescence; vitamin F can provide moisture for the skin cells, avoid moisture evaporation, reconstruction of cell membrane by free radicals; vitamin K can inhibit blood coagulation. Shea butter which contains plant sterols (phytosterols) and vitamin E and other unsaponifiable components can be fully nourish the skin, but also resist ultraviolet (UVB)

 

Shea Butter nourishes the skin with Vitamins A, E and F.  Vitamins A and E help maintain the skin and keep it clear and healthy.  They are particularly helpful for sun damaged skin. They help prevent premature wrinkles and facial lines.  Vitamin F acts as a skin protector and rejuvenator. It soothes rough, dry or chapped skin and helps soften dry or damaged hair.  Shea Butter is high in unsaponifiables (a type of fat).  Shea Butter has between ***2% unsaponifiables.  For comparison, avocado oil, a well known skin conditioner, has between **6%.  This high level of unsaponifiables is one of the properties that makes Shea Butter so invaluable in treating the conditions listed above.   Also, Shea Butter easily penetrates the skin allowing the skin to breathe and not clogging pores.  Shea Butter has a high level of Cinnamic acid, a natural sun screen.  So, it provides some degree of protection from the sun.  Shea Butter is also anti-inflammatory making it useful in treating rheumatism.
