Valve Stem Installtion Instructions

1. Locate the Valve Stem Insertion/Removal Tool like the one pictured.

2. The insertion/removal tool has internal threads that will screw onto the threads of the valve stem.

3. To install a valve stem, insert the valve stem through the valve hole in the rim as pictured.

4. Hold the valve stem while turning the valve tool clockwise, or hold the valve tool and turn the valve stem.

5. The valve stem is designed to wedge into the rim hole and should be tapered.

6. After the tool is secured to the valve stem, push down on the back of the handle and align one of the groves in the handle with the lip of the rim.

7. Continue pushing down on the tool handle like a lever pivoting on the lip of the rim. This will pull the valve stem through the rim hole. The valve stem will stretch as it is pulled through the rim hole. Pull the valve stem through the rim hole until the bottom ring at the base of the stem is touching the inside of the rim and the top ring at the base of the stem is on the outside of the rim. 

8. Remove the tool from the stem by turning the tool counterclockwise to unscrew it. Do not try to turn the valve stem while holding the tool.

9. To check the valve stem for proper installation, gently push the valve stem from side to side to check for an even, snug fit. The entire top ridge at the base of the valve stem should be visible against the outside of the rim.

*0. Then check the bottom of the valve stem for an even, snug fit. The entire bottom ridge at the base of the valve stem should be visible against the inside of the rim.

Valve Stem Removal Instructions

1. To remove a valve stem, screw the Valve Stem Insertion/Removal Tool onto the valve stem.

2. Push down on the tool handle like a lever pivoting on the lip of the rim. This will pull the base of the valve stem through the rim hole, removing the valve stem from the rim. If the valve stem breaks in half before it can be pulled all the way through the hole, then just remove the two halves from either side of the rim hole. Discard the used valve stem and do not reuse it.
