Carboxyl-Modified Vinyl Chloride/Vinyl Acetate Copolymers VMC Solution Vinyl Resin A medium molecular weight resin containing approximately *3 percent vinyl chloride, *6 percent vinyl acetate, and 1 percent maleic acid; VMC solution vinyl resin is more soluble than VAMA solution vinyl resin in ketones, esters, and other solvents used to dissolve vinyl resins.VMCsolution vinyl resin also has a higher tolerance for aromatic hydrocarbon diluents. When dissolved in a suitable solvent system, such as a *0 percent ketone/*0 percent aromatic hydrocarbon, resin solutions of *3 to *5 percent solids can be achieved. VMC solution vinyl resin is often used in the same applications as VAMA solution vinyl resin. However, because of its better solubility, it is also used as an adhesion promoter for vinyl organosols in can coatings.
