Why are led's better for plant growth?

Led's are better for plant growth in all stages for many reasons, but lets start with what the main problems are with traditional lighting. With a traditional HID / HPS type of lighting fixture your plants are only making use of approximately *0%**5% of the light output (the output is of extremely wide bandwidth), this is of course highly inefficient and undesirable. It is important to monitor the growth of the plants and it is only possible under the white light. Other colors might make it difficult to monitor the room. In such cases it might become difficult to identify any issues with the environment as well as the plants. With the help of the white light it becames easier to observe even the smallest troubles with the plants.
  • Ultraviolet light: Ultraviolet light is not very common but it can be an option for experimentation. It is important to mimic the outdoor conditions and creat artificial conditions so that plants get the right mixture and wavelengths of the light.
