3M ***0 N*5 cone-style non-shedding masks are health care particulate respirators and surgical masks that provide respiratory protection for the wearer. The filter efficiency level is *5% or greater against particulate aerosols that do not contain oil. These face masks are fluid-resistant and meet CDC guidelines for Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other biological exposure control. As a respirator, it reduces exposure to certain airborne particles including those generated by laser surgery, electrocautery, and other powered medical instruments. As a surgical mask, it protects against splash and spatter of blood and other infectious materials. When worn properly and in with protective eyewear, the N*5 mask complies with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard.

These N*5 masks are NIOSH approved for *5% filtration efficiency of solid and liquid aerosol particulates that do not contain oil or emit harmful vapours. This respirator mask can reduce inhalation exposures to certain airborne biological particles such as mould, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Bacillus anthracis, and others, but cannot eliminate the risk of contracting infection, illness, or disease.
